THE ANTICHRIST IS COMING

John wrote of the coming of such an ultra-evil person and even several people as the antichrist, mentioned in both I and II John. He wrote, “… it is the last time: and as you have heard that antichrists shall come …” (I John 2:18), and he intensifies the warning, pointing out, “… This is the spirit of the antichrist … even now is already in the world.” (I John 4:3, NIV) Do we take it seriously? WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON

I know you have seen the famous red telephone box for which Britain is well known; they are now, of course, being totally phased out, but at one time those boxes were on almost every corner and country lane. These red boxes almost symbolize Britain! Once I heard of someone standing barely inside one of those red boxes trying to dial a number in the darkness—but he could not see the numbers on the rotator. A helpful person walked by, who saw the problem the person was having

THE FOCUS FACTOR

Jesus “steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51), or as the Living Bible says, “he moved steadily onward …” There is something very enriching and encouraging that, like Jesus, there are times in all of our lives when it becomes fully evident that “This is what I must do.” God is calling us to “set our face to go.” Jesus had a task before Him, and that task was the ultimate purpose of His coming to this earth. It was compelling and it was completed. He “set his

THE BEST FOR LAST!

“‘This is wonderful stuff!’ he said. ‘You’re different from most. Usually a host uses the best wine first, and afterwards, when everyone is full and doesn’t care, then he brings out the less expensive brands. But you have kept the best for the last!’” John 2:10 Living Bible The first miracle that Jesus performed was at a wedding. You recall, the wine ran out and it appeared that the glad celebration would end in great embarrassment, but Jesus was there and He mastered the sit

THE GOD WHO IS HOLY

I have never attempted to write exclusively on the holiness of God or even preach an entire sermon on that subject. I believe it but feel it is beyond me to do that adequately. Therefore, I quote R. C. Sproul for support. He said, “Holiness is not just an attribute, it is God’s very essence.” I stand in awe not only of Him, but even to attempt to describe Him in His absolute holiness may be beyond me. We try to see Him, “… the high and holy One … he who lives forever, who

JESUS HIMSELF

Those are the very words of Scripture, and they come from Ephesians 2:20 where it says, “Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.” We can say it another way, which is a favorite of mine, “Christianity is Christ,” yes, “Jesus himself!” The uniqueness of Christianity is the uniqueness of Christ; that is exactly true. We can say it this way: when we are right about Christ, eventually we can be right about everything; therefore we focus on “Jesus himself.” The British preache

“An evangelist is someone who can never get comfortable with the sound of shuffling footsteps or the sight of people with lonely, sad eyes, walking toward eternity without Christ’s forgiveness.”
